   RECYCLING
If anyone has printer ink that is used up, I recycle them at Office Depot and use the money for paper and some of my supplies to do the phone books. You could drop them off at either clubhouse, or at my house. My address is 1860 NW 46th Circle. My phone number is 352-368-xxxx. I will be happy to come and get them if you want. Thanks in advance.

SODA CAN RECYCLING
Thanks everyone for the great job of recycling the soda cans at both Clubhouses, by the pool and at each mail box. FSO really appreciates the effort of everyone doing their part for the en-vironment. However, since we collect the cans and crush them before taking them to the recy-cle place, we would appreciate not having to deal with dog waste in the bins. PLEASE DISPOSE OF THE DOG WASTE IN YOUR OWN TRASH AT HOME NOT THE RECYCLING BARRELS

BE AN ANGEL
Sponsor a child's holiday gift. The Angel Project provides gifts for children alleged to be abused or neglected. Ask me for an angel tag; purchase and wrap a gift for the child; or donate and I will shop for you.

For those not familiar with the Guardian Ad Litem Program, we are trained, courtappointed advocates who visit the child and repre-sent the child in court. There are over 600 such children in Marion County. They live in foster homes or with a parent while the parents work to correct the problems that caused the child to be "sheltered" by the court. Several GALs live here in Foxwood. If you would like to become a GAL, please call me for details.

LIBRARY NEWS
Several people have expressed an interest in having SCIENCE FICTION books in the library. If anyone has paperback (no hard cover) Science Fiction books they would like to donate, I have space available to shelve them. If you have any suggestions for the library, please e-mail me at pgauthier4@live.com.

MONDAY AFTERNOON BRIDGE Like to play bridge? A bit rusty? Come anyway--Mondays, 1 PM, Taylor Hall. Please bring a quar-ter and a few pennies.

Park Watch
The Foxwood Park Watch will meet Dec. 19th at 7:00 PM in the Community Center. Anyone inter-ested in participating is welcome to attend and join if they desire. With the increase in our park’s population the patrols are increasing and more people are needed. Special topic for the evening will be watchful eyes.

Recycling Changes

Due to budget cuts, Ocala will no longer be having hazard waste pickups.

This means that the batteries that have been taken to Taylor Hall can be put in the weekly trash. If you have large lithium batteries (these are ones that are rechargeable) they can be taken to West Recycle Center on west Rt 27.

Compact florescent light bulbs also will no longer be recycled.

VETERANS DAY DINNER
THANK YOU

Friday November 11th at 5:00 p.m.
I wanted to thank all the people who helped set up the Veteran’s Day Dinner. It removes so much stress to know you can call on people in the park when there is work to be done. Thanks to Jim and Carol Vande Velde, Janet Black, Judy Madore, Mildred Wickes, Helen Peek, Evelyn Acker, and Terry Whitkanack. Also we want to thank those who provided a special brand of Foxwood entertainment for the evening. Thank you Bill Matern, Richard Nardone, Evelyn Acker and Mildred Wickes. Thanks to Freda Jones for the quilted tribute to our veterans.

And thanks to all of you who made the time to honor the veterans in our park.
This is such an awesome tradition. Don’t forget to thank Myra Hernandez for setting this up and organizing it.

Citizen Emergency Response Team
or CERT
The Foxwood CERT team announces another County training course.

Do you want to know how to assist if there is a disastrous emergency involving your community ( until the professional help arrives) and how to assist them after? Also, when activated you are covered by county insurance.
The course teaches what you need to know to help others and protect yourself. Courses are
to be held starting Feb. 16th with either afternoon or evening classes available. There is no cost. Contact Karen Chippi at xxx-xxxx for futher information.

NEIGHBORS HELP NEIGHBORS

On October 9th the home of Vickie Laflamme in Foxwood Farms was completely inundated from the tropical rainstorm and a resulting sinkhole, which developed.
The management stepped forward with a park owned home as an immediate replacement.
A week after the incident, over 20 of the residents from the park gathered, packed up and moved her to her new home. In less than 2 hours they had accomplished the transfer; and went back to their normal retirement lives, having done something for the good of a neighbor and our park as usual.

LIBRARY NEWS
The Library has been reorganized. We now have all ROMANCE novels in one section. All MYSTERY, THRILLER AND ADVENTURE books have been combined. WESTERNS are now in the main room. We have ten shelves of LARGE PRINT books.. Each section of books is shelved alphabetically by author. All HARD COVER books are shelved in the alcove and oversized SOFT COVER books are shelved in the workroom. There are four new sections – HISTORY/POLITICS, RELIGION, HEALTH/FITNESS and BIOGRAPHY. Thank you to Kathy Case and Jeannie Decker for overseeing the library over the summer while I was up North. Also, thank you to Barbara Batchelder for keeping the magazines supplied and organized. Pamela Foster, Librarian

A Recycling Reminder
Home batteries and home compact florescent bulbs are collected for recycling in Taylor Hall thanks to Bill Truman and Marge Morosko. Newspapers are collected at the entrance to Phase I and aluminum cans at each mailbox location and in each clubhouse. Thanks for helping us to be responsible citizens!

RHUBARB FREEZER JELLY

5 cups chopped rhubarb

1 cup water

5 cups sugar

1 can blueberry pie filling (or peach)

6 oz raspberry Jell-O

Cook rhubarb in the water 10 minutes until soft. Add sugar, bring to a boil. Add pie filling. Cook on low heat 5-8 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat; add Jell-O; stir until dissolved. Ladle into jelly jars; cool and freeze. Makes about 8 jars. ENJOY!

RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE

The Foxy Ladies have a box in each Clubhouse where they collect the pop tops from soda, cat food, soup or any cans which they then recycle. They donate these funds to The Ronald McDonald House. Please try and remember to save them and bring them to either Clubhouse. We appreciate any help we can get for this good cause.
